The planning & zoning department has the following functions
COUNTY ZONING - As the Zoning Officer the Zoning Administrator maintains and enforces the County Zoning Resolution within the county zoning jurisdiction, maintains the county zoning map and keeps records of the proceedings of the Planning & Zoning CommissionCOUNTY FLOOD PLAIN - As the Flood Plain Officer, the Zoning Administrator maintains and enforces the County Flood Plain Ordinances. This office is the repository for county flood maps and map amendments. Elevation certificates are required for any building in the flood plain.
COUNTY BUILDING OFFICIAL - The Zoning Administrator is the County Building Official, issuing Building Permits and enforcing the County Building Code, which is the International Building Code as amended by the State. Building Permits are required for all structures, with the exception of agricultural buildings, within the County zoning jurisdiction. Permit cost is $50.00 plus $2.00 per thousand of building cost. Plans are to be submitted at the time of application.
COUNTY STORM WATER ADMINISTRATION - The Zoning Administrator develops, implements, and enforces a storm water management program as required by EPA.
